Tried this delicious rave(semolina) rotti recipe some time back. We as a family love our rottis. Rottis are basically thick pancakes made with stiff dough(batter) often made with rice flour/ ragi flour/ rave(semolina). Check out their links.
Traditionally rottis are patted on a banana leaf and transferred to the hot tava. But this rotti is spread with your hands(or ladle), more like a dosa. So one step made easy. I got this recipe from vegrecipesofkarnataka (link given below).
Enjoy this traditional breakfast with some coconut chutney and some butter.
Ingredients(2 cups yielded 10 rottis)
Fine rave/ sooji/ semolina - 1.5 cups
Curd - preferably sour - 0.5 cup
Rice flour - 1.5 tbsp
Maida - 1 tbsp
Water - 1.5 cups
Salt
Green chilli - 4-5 (as needed)
Coriander leaves - as needed
Hing
Coconut - 2 tbsp
Method
In a mixing bowl, add rave, maida, rice flour and curd, add water. Mix well. Set it aside for 15-20 min. Meanwhile finely chop green chillies and coriander leaves and add it to the mix. Add salt, coconut and hing. Mix well. The batter should be dropping consistency(much thicker than dosa batter).
Heat tava. Take a ladleful of batter and either spread this with your hands or use ladle to spread it like dosa. Add oil/ ghee while cooking. After one side is done, flip and cook on the other side.
Serve hot with chutney and butter.
