This is a very simple rice bath with simple flavors and can be made in no time. Cabbage is generally not liked by kids. But sneak it in a rice bath, they’ll not mind, hopefully :)
Along with cabbage, I added capsicum and chick peas for extra flavor. Do try!
Ingredients
Cabbage - shred finely - I used purple cabbage
Peas
Capsicum (not in the original)
Chick peas - handful - soaked overnight
Onion - 1 big
Tomato - 2
Green chili - 3
Ginger - garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Cilantro - handful for garnishing
Rice - 1 cup (sona masoori)
Water - 2 cups
Salt
Powders
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Red chili powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric
Tadka
Oil
Jeera
Method
Cook rice(and chick peas) in a pressure cooker and let it cool before mixing with the masala paste.
In a pan add some oil. Add jeera, after it sizzles add onion, capsicum, green chili and GG paste. Sauté till onion becomes translucent. Add peas and tomatoes and sauté till tomatoes become soft. Add finely shredded cabbage + salt. Cover and cook till cabbage is completely cooked. Add all the masala powders. Sauté till oil separates. Reduce heat and add cooked rice and salt and mix well. Garnish with cilantro.
