One more chutney recipe. This time it is Seemebadnekayi(Chayote). I have tried 2 kinds of chutney from this veg. Both came out good. Giving the first one here. It is very much similar to Sorekayi(Bottle Gourd) chutney. Tastes similar too. It goes very well with rice. Do try!
Chayote - 2 chopped with skin, deseeded
Coconut - palmful
Green chillies - 7-8
Cilantro - 1 small bunch
Tamarind paste - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 stalk
for tadka
Oil
Mustard seeds
Hing
Method
In a pan add some oil. Add green chillies + chopped chayote + salt. Sauté till the chayote changes color to light brown. Add curry leaves +tamarind+coconut+cilantro. Mix and turn off the stove. Let it cool and grind to chutney consistency. Adjust salt. Make tadka and add it to the chutney. Serve with rice.
Alternately, pressure cook chayote, salt, green chillies and little hing. Cool and grind with coconut+ cilantro+ tamarind paste to chutney consistency.
