Capsicum curry - another dhaba style curry that everybody simply loved in my family. I added potato extra which was not in the original recipe. Here is the link for Dhaba style bhindi masala.
Looks like dhaba style curries use gram flour to get the thickness. I personally liked this feature of adding gram flour as it doesn’t affect the taste of the curry while giving it the creamy texture, secondly you get quite an amount of curry for couple of tbsp of flour. Do try!
Ingredients
Capsicum - 3
Onion - 1 big
Tomato - 3
Potato - 2 medium
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Jeera powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Red chili powder - 1 tsp
Oil + ghee
Jeera
Ginger - garlic paste(GG paste) - 1/2 - 1 tsp
Gram flour - 3 tbsp
Cilantro
Method
Fry cubed capsicum, half of onion and potato(salt + little red chili powder) in some oil till they are done and take them out in a plate. Meanwhile grind tomatoes and (remaining half)onion to a smooth paste in a mixie.
In the same pan you fried capsicum, add oil if necessary, add jeera, when they crackle add gg paste. Now add gram flour and fry for at least 1 min. Add ground paste, add all masala powders, little salt. Cover and cook till oil separates, mixing in between. Now add sautéed vegetables, cover and cook for 5 more minutes while mixing in between. Garnish with finely chopped cilantro. Serve with chapathi, poori.
