Another simplest form of dal, Dal fry. It is made with moong dal, which is healthier, as in easily digestible. Just basic tadka + onion + tomato + garam masala + cooked dal - dal is ready! Tastes heavenly!
Serve it with a sabzi, you got yourself a wholesome meal ready in 30 minutes.
I got this recipe from a blog I follow on FB, which has many short and sweet interesting video recipes.
Do try!
Moong dal - 1 cup
Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
Tomato - 2, finely chopped
Ginger - 1/2 inch minced
Garlic - 3-4 minced
Green chili - 1 - finely chopped
Coriander leaves - finely chopped
Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
Kasoori methi - 1/2 tsp - crushed
Turmeric
Hing
Tadka
Oil + butter - (I added 2 tbsp ghee)
Jeera
Red chili
Method
In a cooker, cook dal with enough water, for 3 whistles, until done.
Meanwhile, in a pan add oil+ butter(or ghee, do not shy away from adding more). After it is heated up, add jeera, let it crackle. Add red chili, minced ginger, garlic, green chili(you can also crush these three in a mortar-pestle) and chopped onion and little salt. Fry till onion becomes translucent. Add finely chopped tomato. Let it get mushy. Add red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric, hing. Sauté in medium flame till oil separates. Add coriander leaves, crushed kasoori methi.
Add cooked dal. Salt. Adjust water to get dal consistency. Let it boil in low-medium flame.
Serve hot with jeera rice/ghee rice/plain rice/naan.
Enjoy!
