Green Moong Dal Rice Bath/Hesaru kalina bath

Yet another rice bath which is very simple, tasty and very very healthy. You can sprout the moong dal to make it even more healthy.

This rice bath is bland compared to pulavs and biriyanis, but tasty nevertheless.
It’s great for potlucks and lunch boxes too..

Enjoy!!

Ingredients

Sprouted Whole Green Moong Dal - (approximately 1 cup)
Rice - 1 cup(preferably Basmati)

Onion - 1
Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 tsp (I cut them finely instead)
Green Chillies - 1-2 (optional)
Cinnamon stick - 1 inch piece
Clove - 2-3

Cilantro
Lemon juice

Method

Sprout Whole Green Moong Dal - (optional)
Soak Green Moong Dal in water overnight. Next day drain out the water completely and let it sit till it sprouts. A perforated container works best.

Soak basmati rice in water for 30 min.
Powder cinnamon and clove in a mixie(I add whole spices)

In the pressure cooker add oil. Add jeera. After it sizzles, add ginger-garlic paste, green chilli. Add whole cinnamon-clove(or ground powder). Add thinly sliced onion and sauté. Add soaked rice. Add salt. Add 1 and 1/2 cup of water(for sona masoori add 2 cups of water). Close the lid and cook for 2 whistles. After the pressure comes down, fluff it with a fork and let it sit for 10 min. Add lemon juice, cilantro in the end and mix well.

Serve with raita.
